2019 Autumn Meditation Retreat

At this retreat, we will learn, practice and have group discussions about Vipassana ( the Four Focuses of Mindfulness). Vipassana Meditation, or Insight Meditation, is NOT a religious practice — anyone can practice this meditation without conﬂict with their individual faith. Practiced consistently, Insight Meditation develops mindfulness and insight and has many benefits, including relaxation, self-control, calmness, contentment, optimism, compassion, loving-kindness, happiness, and inner peace.
Note: This is a 16 hours course for students who would like to learn with the Basic Meditation class. This course is progressive, each class building on the previous class. In order to receive the certificate at the end of the course, you are required to attend both two days. Detailed schedule and instruction will be emailed upon registration.

About Ven. Thich Thien Tri
Zen Teacher Thich Thien Tri graduated from the Vietnamese Buddhist Association with a Bachelor of Arts in Buddhism. In 2002, he moved to the United States to start his passionate journey as a teacher of meditation. His first classes were offered to the youth of California. In 2004, he continued teaching meditation to both Vietnamese and Westerners in Mississippi. Since then he has traveled to Houston and many other cities throughout the US. In July of 2015, he has been invited by the Van Hanh Buddhist Center of New Orleans to teach Buddhism to the Vietnamese community. Thich Thien Tri also opened “ Zen and Mind family” to that everyone living in the New Orleans area could experience how meditation benefits their lives. In addition to his work at the pagoda, he also offers meditation classes at Tibetan House, which is located in uptown New Orleans. Recently, he has been invited by Xavier University and Loyola University to lead meditation workshops and teach the Foundation of Mindfulness courses for 2017.
Venerable Thich Thien Tri is also an author of the book “ Sharing From the Heart”, a basic guide to meditation for the Zen and Mind family.
